UCU Bath has organised/is organising a series of events for the coming semester, details of which are below.

USS Negotiations Briefing: Deepa Govindarajan Driver

We are extremely lucky to have Deepa Govindarajan Driver, one of UCU’s national negotiators in the USS pensions dispute visiting Bath next week where she can give a full update on progress, and answer any and all queries members and non-members may have about the union’s position. If you have not returned your ballot paper(s) yet, this is an excellent opportunity to get even more information from someone in the thick of negotiations before doing so.

Film Showing: The Teachers’ Protest (w. director Q&A)

Thursday the 14th of November at 18:15 – 21:00

In November, the director Jon Seal will be joining us for a showing of his documentary “The Teacher’s Protest” and a Q&A afterwards. The film covers the titular strike by Norwegian educators under Nazi rule, you can watch the trailer HERE. Please do sign-up to attend at the link found HERE as it will be useful to have an idea of numbers if a larger room that currently booked is needed.

Campus Workshop: Unis Resist Border Controls

Dates TBC: watch this space!

We are in the process of finalising dates for a workshop on campus hosted by the Unis Resist Border Controls group, with the purpose of helping staff and students understand how the government’s hostile environment policy and border controls operates inside higher education in the UK. These workshops also discuss provide ways of giving practical solidarity on the ground to protect migrant students, academic staff and university workers. Once a date has been finalised we will be back in contact.

Building off of the hugely successful turnout at the recent Climate Strike Stoppage, a reminder that members interested in further involvement in supporting the union in environmental/green campaigning, to email UCU Bath’s Environment.
