September, 2013:

Staff are as important as new buildings – vote YES to strike action on pay

One of the best attended UCU meetings for some years heard UCU National HE Officer tell members that universities in the UK are sitting on over £1 billion in surpluses. Bath alone had a surplus of over £10 million last year and this is expected to rise to £13 million this year. ‘We need to invest in staff as well as shiny new buildings’ he argued as members were urged to support the call for action against the fifth annual pay cut in a row. Full report of the meeting to follow …

Action against pay cuts and job insecurity starts now

Pay is down. Job security is disappearing for more and more in HE. And now the VC wants to cut the successful PGCE course.

It’s time to drop everything and come to the UCU meeting on

Monday 23rd September 12.45 in 8W2.5

The main speaker is Michael MacNeil, UCU National HE officer speaking for the first time in Bath.

All members and new members welcome. Tea and coffee provided. Bring your lunch.
