What we do

Pay, pensions and conditions of employment

These are negotiated nationally by teams of elected officials and paid staff.

Local negotiations and consultation

University of Bath UCU signed a recognition agreement with the employers in November 2011.  UNITE and UNISON, who also represent staff at the University, have also signed this agreement.   Under the agreement UCU meets twice a year with University managers at a Joint Academic Consultation and Negotiation Committee (JACNC) to consider matters that affect academic and academic related staff, such as the REF or the status of Teaching Fellows.   UCU also meets three or four times a year with reps from UNITE and UNISON and the employers at the Joint Union Consultation and Negotiation Committee (JUCNC) to consider matters that affect all staff such as the sickness absence policy, HR policies and procedures and other matters.

Casework

UCU provides support and representation for members involved in disciplinary processes, grievances and other work-related matters.  If you have a problem please contact the Casework Coordinator (ucu-casework@bath.ac.uk).
